Chamber Singers

Chamber Singers is the premiere vocal ensemble at The University of South Dakota. Directed by Dr. David Holdhusen, the choir is comprised of 32 graduate and undergraduate students selected through audition from the entire university student body. Its repertoire, which is primarily a cappella, includes music from the Renaissance to the present in a wide variety of styles. The ensemble presents formal concerts on campus each semester and has traveled throughout the United States and Europe during its annual concert tour. They have been selected for performance at state and regional conventions of the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educators National Conference. |
RehearsalsThe Chamber Singers rehearse on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 11:00 to 11:50 in the Choir Room of the Warren M. Lee Center for Fine Arts. |

Auditions
Auditions for the Chamber Singers take place at the beginning of the fall semester. Should any openings occur, a spring semester audition may be scheduled.

- Sight Reading
Tour
Each spring, the Chamber Singers embarks on an extensive Concert Tour which has taken the group throughout the United States and to Europe. The tour provides the ensemble the opportunity to perform in a wide variety of venues and bring its choral artistry to a wider audience. Nature's Witness is the Chamber Singers most recent recording. Nature’s Witness takes the listener on a musical and emotional journey through the beauty of choral music. This recording begins with the sounds of life on the freshly created world. The songs of insects and birds fill the air as the animals come together to marvel at the beauty of the newly adorned earth. The people, despite their glorious surrounding, long for more. Just as the deer desires water, so too do they desire spiritual guidance. |
