Al Neuharth Media Center

The Al Neuharth Media Center was dedicated on September 25, 2003. The $5 million renovation of USD's former "New Armory" was funded by a $2 million lead gift from the Freedom Forum and by the USD Foundation as part of Campaign South Dakota. The building is named in honor of Al Neuharth, a USD alumnus who founded USA Today and the Freedom Forum.

Built in 1928 for $250,000, the building now houses all of the media and journalism organizations on campus, including Freedom Forum regional offices and conference facilities, South Dakota Public Broadcasting, USD's department of contemporary media and journalism, the Native American Journalists Association, The Volante, campus radio station KAOR and television KYOT.
