Disaster Preparedness USD

This interprofessional training is a joint venture with the Sanford School of Medicine and School of Health Sciences, the South Dakota Department of Health, and Yankton Rural Area Health Education Center.

The disaster preparedness training day involves students from the following departments:

  • Nursing
  • Physician Assistant
  • Social Work
  • Medical Laboratory Science
  • M.D.
  • Pharm D
  • Clinical Psychology
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Health Sciences Major
  • Dental Hygiene

The student's day consists of public health, personal preparedness planning, community preparedness and planning, disaster health system, public health law and ethics, disaster paradigm and small group workshops. New in 2016 were pediatric emergency medicine and mass fatality training.
