Disaster Preparedness USD

This interprofessional training is a joint venture with the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine and School of Health Sciences, the South Dakota Department of Health, and Yankton Rural AHEC (Area Health Education Center).

The Disaster Preparedness Training day involves Nursing, Physician Assistant, Master of Social Work, Medical Laboratory Science, MD, Pharm D, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Health Sciences Major, and Dental Hygiene students.

The student’s day consists of public health, personal preparedness planning, community preparedness and planning, disaster health system, public health law and ethics, disaster paradigm, and small group workshops. New in 2016 was pediatric emergency medicine and mass fatality training.
