Bio:
Before transitioning into Academia in 2011, I worked for over ten years in various capacities in Community and Public Health across the United States and overseas. I am passionate about the field of Public Health and absolutely love working with students on their journey to making a difference in various community, public, and private health settings.
Teaching Interests:
Although I have taught various courses within the undergraduate Health Sciences Department during the past couple of years, I am currently developing and teaching the new public health pathway courses for both onsite and online students to include Introduction to Public Health, Epidemiology, and Global Health. I also frequently teach the onsite and online Culture Care and Health Literacy course.
Research Interests:
My primary line of research can be described as the utilization of technology to address health disparities. I am also very interested in assessing the efficacy of teaching strategies to increase the cultural competence of future health care providers. In addition to collaborating with faculty, I am devoted to facilitating undergraduate research and creative scholarship experiences for students and am currently mentoring research teams of undergraduate HSC students. Aligning with my interest in undergraduate research, I have served on the USD Council for Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship (CURCS) since 2013 and School of Health Sciences Research Committee since 2012.
