| Description of Journal |
The Heimstra Human Factors Electronic Journal was established in 1998. It is a peer-reviewed electronic journal utilizing the internet as a medium for the distribution of original material on areas concerning human factors. Areas that are covered include, but are not exclusive to, human information processing, human computer interaction, applied cognitive psychology, safety, motor performance, traffic safety, transportation systems, aging and technology, vision and visibility, psychophysiological research, and auditory research. Publishing this electronic journal on the internet offers a relatively cost-effective means of providing this medium, and one which offers the potential for the prompt publication of articles and the dissemination of information to those with an interest in this topic.

The reviews of this journal are an accumulation of seasoned professionals, professors and a select group of graduate students from the University of South Dakota. Each article goes through a thorough process of review, critique, review and approval prior to its publication.
