British Colonies:
How They Started and Where They Are Now

America was not the only colony started by Great Britain. Among her other conquests were New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and the Bahamas. After the American Revolution, Britain feared more upheavals in these other countries. So, a new system of government called "dominion" was established. Dominion allowed settlements to have their own governments without cutting ties to the motherland. As a result, relations between the settlements and Great Britain were generally more peaceful.

The following web site was developed to give the viewer an idea of how these four colonies came to be, and where they are now.
