Agriculture

The diet of the villagers consisted mainly of bread and cereals, with little meat. The lord kept for himself the right to hunt in the woodland, and what meat the villagers had came from pigs and cattle. The entire grain crop had to be saved for human consumption and for the next year's planting.

Europe used a two-filed rotation system for centuries until 3 major innovations triggered an agricultural revolution.
1. The introduction of the heavy wheel plow.
2. The introduction of horses to replace oxen as a source of power.
3. The introduction of the three-field rotation system.
