Duus Hansen
Controlling transmissions out of Denmark to Sweden and especially London
was one of the most hazardous jobs available to any resistance personnel.
Duus Hansen took on that job despite the cost that he knew he would have
to pay if he got caught. Duus Hansen telegraphed the first messages of
information out of Denmark to London. Duus Hansen seemed to be a wizard
at dodging the Gestapo and creating new transmission technology. As Duus
Hansens name spread in the underground resistance community he was
brought into alliance with all the major resistance groups as the person
to go through to get information to Sweden or London. He became the
leading person in technical support and information transfer that kept
outside sources such as Britain informed on the events that were occurring
(Thomas 56). Duus Hansen created the simple technique of setting
up transmission sites all over Denmark and moving from site to site after
each transmission so that the Gestapo could not lock onto his
transmissions or determine where repeated messages were coming from. His
continuation of increasing technology for transmissions during the
resistance led to a continued advance in radio communications and the
increasing telephone network (Thomas 68).
