The Freedom Council
The Freedom Council was the uniting force within Denmark. The
Freedom Council was
formed when the resistance groups had delegates work together leading to
more sabotage attacks and better organization. The Freedom Council became
the Danish government during the resistance. It sent people out to
liquidate Nazi informers or spies.
The Freedom Council became Denmark's governing body until the
Allies came to liberate it after German surrender. Power was returned to
the old government when the Allies took control of Denmark with many of
the Freedom Council members going back to whatever jobs they worked before
the resistance.
