Holger Danske, a national Danish hero, was a Viking that protected Christian Denmark from heathens and muslims. He supposedly fell asleep in Kronborg Castle. It is said that Holger Danske will awaken if Denmark's freedom is threatened. Some Danes believe that Holger Danske came to life during World War II in the spirit of the resistance movement under that name.
