Lotte

Edith Bonneson who was code named Lotte was one of many female resistance leaders who many times did not get the credit that they deserved due to the fact that they were women. Lotte worked as a spy for the resistance movement. Before German occupation she worked in the civil services. As the Germans occupied Denmark, a lot of information concerning German movements and actions against the resistance passed by her office. She copied much of this information, which she passed on to British intelligence through Duus Hansen’s network (Thomas 70). She also discovered much information on the German V1 and V2 explosives. Her spy days were limited as Germans officials discovered what she was doing so she went underground. Like all other people forced underground she meet and joined sabotage groups. Lotte worked in the BOPA and closely with Flemming Muus, another resistance leader. Together, they worked with Duus Hansen to establish apartments across Denmark that could house transmitter (Thomas 72). Lotte and many other women like her caused the people in Denmark to rethink the role of women that had been continuously changing since the turn of the century.
