The digital revolution, though a mostly modern phenomenon, has its roots in the works and thoughts of scientists centuries old. In the last one hundred years, the field of digital technology and computers has advanced faster than perhaps any other area of research. Just the last few years has demonstrated how quickly computers can become a part of people's everyday lives. It is beyond anyone's capacity to predict to what extent and in which direction the digital revolution will lead the future. It cannot be denied, however, that this technology will be the very foundation of future society. Our goal is to study the past and present of the digital revolution and to perhaps give some insight into where to future will take us.

This has been a project by the students of the University of South Dakota's Honors Western Civilization class, under the supervision of Professor Clayton Lehmann, and designed for the continuing project, The House the West Built, in conjunction with the USD Honors Program.
