Earthquakes' Hope Without Fault

Mother Nature has various ways of playing jokes on the world. Natural disasters are, of course, the most devastating of her arsenal. Perhaps the most frightening disaster to be experienced is the earthquake. With a tornado or a flood, at least safety is as close as a storm shelter or solid ground. An earthquake leaves its victims with nowhere to run because the very ground beneath them is shaking and moving. In the aftermath of an earthquake, a community can be seen pulling together, mourning its losses, and beginning the process of rebuilding.

During their time of need, individuals found a foothold in their community (courtesy of KRON).

Individuals and corporations worked to hold together the American and Japanese communities. The spirit of their generosity did not buckle under to the following earthquakes:

Northridge, California Earthquake: January 17, 1994

Kobe, Japan Earthquake: January 17, 1995
