Of all the various telecommunications services in existence today, the
one most used is the telephone. The impact of the telephone has been
described as both positive and negative. On the negative side, wars are
waged more easily, the scope of human conflict has been extended along
telephone lines, and the multi-generational household has been
broken up. On the other hand, lives have been saved through links to emergency
services. The modern city, through telephonic connections, has created
an increase in the speed and ease with which information transition takes place.
Without the telephone the world would not be where it is at today. The
telephone has aided in broadening communities, and allowing families to
move apart yet stick together. With the invention of the telephone
people were not only able to communicate better bet they were able to
communicate more.
