Blue Cloud Abbey Homepage; Marvin, SD: "In the critical year of 1876, Benedictine Monks came to Dakota Territory and at the request of Sitting Bull at Standing Rock set up the first of several schools. In 1966 there evolved from the schools and from the inspiration of the students the American Indian Culture Research Center at Blue Cloud Abbey."

South Dakota State Historical Society: The South Dakota State Historical Society, established by the state legislature in 1901, collects, preserves and interprets the tangible reminders of South Dakota's history and heritage. Lakxota Kxoyag (Link): "Lakxota Kxoyag (Link) was established in 1991 to give assistance to the Lakxota communities of Bridger and Cherry Creek on the Cheyenne River Lakxota (Sioux) Reservation, in South Dakota. Midwest Treaty Network: "The Midwest Treaty Network is an alliance of Indian and non-Indian community groups that support the sovereign rights of Native American nations. While founded in the context of the Chippewa (Ojibwe) treaty struggle, it is concerned generally with defending and strengthening Native cultures and nationhood, protecting Mother Earth, and fighting racism and other forms of domination throughout our region. The Network has taken a stand against economic and political pressure on indigenous nations to give up their rights."

The Native American Rights Fund: "Indian lives are governed by hundreds of treaties, thousands of federal statutes, and numerous regulations and administrative rulings -- many of them which contradict each other. There must be resolution of these legal barriers if Indian people are to have any chance for an improved day-to-day existence. The Native American Rights Fund provides the necessary legal representation to Native American tribes and villages, organizations and individuals to help untangle the maze of laws impacting their lives."

NETWARRIORS: Journal of the Global Caucus of Indigenous Peoples. International indigenous issues are discussed on this site. Several countries represented. "The NetWarriors was established as a spiritual call to our indigenous relatives and world on 21 October 1996. Native Americas: Akwe:kon's Journal of Indigenous Issues: "Native Americas is the quarterly publication of Akwe:kon Press of the American Indian Program at Cornell University.
