"The Advisory Committee shall advise the Secretary to ensure that the memorial designed and constructed as provided in section 203 shall be appropriate to the monument, its resources and landscape, sensitive to the history being portrayed and artistically commendable." (P.L. 102-201 sec. 202.d)
Members of the committee will also serve as jurors for the design competition; they will review all design submissions and award prizes. The selection process will be led by a jury advisor who represents competitors' interests, guards the integrity of the competition, and performs his duty separate from committee and National Park Service influence. The jury advisor has no voting privilege with regard to selecting winning entries. Advisory committee names marked with an asterisk (*) are members of the seven-person jury panel who will select the winners.
