The Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument Advisory Committee


Purpose of the Competition

The purpose of this single-stage competition is to find the appropriate design concept for this memorial. This national design competition is sponsored by the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument Advisory Committee.

Amateurs and students are encouraged to participate, as well as design professionals, and all entrants will be equally eligible for an award. Individual and team competitors are welcome.

The competition will be administered and design submissions will be assessed on an anonymous basis. All nine designs receiving an award (cash awards as well as honorable mention awards) will become property of the National Park Service. A public display of all judged submissions will be held after winners are announced.

Three cash prizes will be awarded:

First Place $30,000.00
Second Place $15,000.00
Third Place $ 5,000.00

The jury will award six honorable mention certificates.

Following the selection of a design, the committee will continue in its role of upholding the integrity of the design and achieving the goals of the competition. However, no guarantee is offered that the memorial will be built as submitted or that additional compensation or a commission will be awarded to the winner.
