American Indian Studies Double Major

The American Indian Studies program hinges on versatility and is designed to be accessible to many disciplines as a double major.

A minimum of 28 hours is required. Students must complete the program's core (13 semester hours) and the research methods requirement in the companion major (three semester hours). Remaining courses must be selected from the electives listed below. No more than one course (three semester hours) in independent study/readings/special problems may be used to fulfill requirements for the double major.

Students in education history, anthropology, English, modern languages, social work, psychology, philosophy, political science, sociology, health and human services, business, pre-law, pre-medicine, and others will find the double major program a valuable complement to their undergraduate studies.

    The advising center for the Indian Studies double major is the Institute of American Indian Studies located in Dakota Hall 12. The Institute is an administrative department which coordinates American Indian-related on and off-campus projects, activities, and programs.
