Teaching

"...in my opinion under 'teaching' our role is to listen, respectfully learn and share in a 2 way dialogue with our students and to pass to them information, norms, ideals and culturally revelant issues to expand their knowledge about us as Indian people who are also living in the modern world as well as historical facts."

[Quote from Ellen Baird (A.B.D., ellen@choicetech.net), instructor of Indian Studies at South Dakota State University.]

"While NWU doesn't have an American Indian studies program, the anthropology, sociology, and History departments offer several courses and reservation experiences for students. I teach Biography (American Indian biography) and two (very full) sections of American Indian history each year. Last year I put together a website utilizing 'Web-Course-In-A-Box'. I have a section entitled 'Learning Links' that has hotlinks to tribal pages, historical documents, news items, etc. that might be of interest to folks. Peruse my site if you want and take from it those hotlinks that would be most appropriate for your website:"
