Overview
The Lee Computer Lab, located in the USD School of Medicine Basic Sciences Building is a state-of-the-art information technology center. Available by key pad to School of Medicine faculty, staff, and students, the Lee Computer Lab provides convenient access to workstations for group instruction and individual learning and experimentation.

Facilities
Eleven Pentium workstations are networked in a Novell Netware local area network and through the campus Internet gateway, to the world. All workstations have SVGA 17 inch color monitors, and sound cards. A video data projector may be attached to one of the workstations or a laptop, and can be scheduled through Medical Student Affairs (677-5233) or by request to Educational Media Services at 677-5411. Additional tables, chairs are readily available for group or individual study. A Powermac 6100 with an attached laser disc player and monitor is networked to the Internet. Dot matrix and laser printers are attached to all workstations except for the Mac which has a dot matrix printer.

Software
All pc workstations have Windows 95 and the Microsoft Office Professional 97 suite of software which includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point. TCP/IP network access is provided by Cisco. Netscape 4.07 and Internet Explorer 4.1 are available as graphical user interfaces to the Internet. Additional software needed by School of Medicine faculty and staff can be installed as long as appropriate network licenses have been purchased. A software load request form must be completed and should be forwarded to the USDSM Health Sciences Libraries Technical Services Unit. In general, software is loaded during summer and winter breaks so that student work and staff productivity is not interrupted.

The lab is available all hours that the Lee Building is accessible. Access to the lab itself is by key pad, the code for which can be obtained from the Student Affairs Office and from USDSM departmental secretaries.
