Patrons are encouraged to contact the Archives and Special Collections before visiting as some of our collections and collection materials are housed in off-site storage. Collections and items needed from remote storage will not be available for same day use.
The Archives & Special Collections is the rare books, manuscripts and archives department of the University Libraries. It contains multiple research collections.
||The Chilson Collection includes materials relating to local histories, South Dakota history, Native American cultures, and western expansion of the United States.|
|The Mahoney Music Collection is one of the most complete collections in the United States pertaining to the violin and violin family instruments.|
|The Richardson Collection is made up of distinct manuscript collections focusing on South Dakota's cultural, political, and economic history.|
|The USD Archives holds the records of the academic and administrative departments of USD as well as materials relating to the activities of its students, faculty, and alumni.|
|The USD Photograph Collection comprises the largest and most comprehensive surviving photographic history of USD.|
