It is important to choose a database that is appropriate to your research.

General resources such as Academic Search Elite on Ebscohost, Expanded Academic on InfoTrac, and Lexis-Nexis cover a wide variety of subjects and have many full-text articles. These databases include a wide variety of sources: popular magazines, scholarly journals, newspapers, and trade publications. Here are some sample topics that might be investigated using these resources:

Subject specific resources such as MLA for language and literature, ERIC for education, PsychINFO for psychology include citations to articles in these specific disciplines. These subject databases do not include citations to articles in popular magazines; they do include citations to articles in scholary journals, and, sometimes, books and chapters in books.
