Camping with the Sioux: Fieldwork Diary of Alice Cunningham Fletcher
This online exhibit includes full text entries from two journals that Alice Cunningham Fletcher kept during a six week stay with the Sioux in 1881. Drawings from the journals accompany the text, as well as photographic images from the National Archives and Fletcher's papers.

Missouri River Commission Maps  Congress created the Missouri River Commission (MRC) in, or shortly after, 1884, to accomplish a continuous, progressive development of the river. The commission consisted of a five-member organization which was charged to make surveys and devise plans to "maintain a channel and depth of water ... sufficient for ... commerce" and to carry out plans of improvement the commission deemed necessary.
