The Cambridge Dictionary of Philosophy

This is a thorough dictionary covering all aspects of philosophy including
terms and philosophers.
Encyclopedia of Classical Philosophy
REFERENCE 1st FLOOR B163.E53 1997
This book covers subjects and people from the dawn of philosophy in Ionia
in the sixth century B.C.E. to the decline of the Academy in Athens in the
sixth century C.E.
An Encyclopedia of War and Ethics
REFERENCE 1st FLOOR B105.W3E53 1996
This book is extremely useful in tracing the development of ideas about
the ethics of war. Bibliographies and index included.
The Great Ideas Today
REFERENCE 1st FLOOR AY59.G7 1961-1998
Each volume in this set (beginning in 1961) covers major ideas of a given
year. Topics range from philosophy of science to natural rights and aesthetics.
Great Thinkers of the Eastern World
REFERENCE 1st FLOOR B5005.G74 1995
This book covers major eastern philosophers and their works. Each essay
includes a bibliography and suggestions for related study.
The Handbook of Western Philosophy
REFERENCE 1st FLOOR B804.H17 1998
This book does an excellent job of explaining various schools of western
philosophical thought and relating them to each other. Extensive bibliographies
are included.
Key Ideas in Human Thought

Traces and defines the development of major ideas in human thought. Includes
eastern and western concepts.
Philosophy: A Guide to the Reference Literature
REFERENCE 1st FLOOR B72.Z9B97
Includes bibliographies of major philosophical encyclopedias and dictionaries.
Most useful is the section of bibliographies on philosophers and schools
of thought. Author/Title and Subject indexes included.
Women Philosophers: A Bio-Critical Source Book

Contains brief biographical sketches, lists of works and criticism.
