Dietetic Internship - Full Time (7 Month) Internship Option

Program Mission

The purpose of the Dietetic Internship is to provide training in direct care practice for nutrition students who wish to become registered dietitians and to provide optimal nutrition services in a variety of health care settings including rural and reservation sites as well as facilities serving persons with disabilities. Throughout the training and classroom experiences, emphasis is placed on the interdisciplinary team process. The mission of the Dietetic Internship coordinates closely with the mission of the Center for Disabilities in its overall focus of providing academic training that prepares dietetic interns to work with individuals with disabilities. Additionally, its emphasis on reaching out to communities with both education and technical assistance and its emphasis on working collaboratively with other professionals further supports the mission of the Center for Disabilities. Through the multitude of available experiences, the interns are able to accomplish the competencies for entry-level dietitians as established by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education.
