A handful of our students responded to a call to serve by creating a medical clinic to help those in need.
The Coyote Clinic is operated by third- and fourth-year medical students. A practicing physician volunteers to oversee the students' work. First- and second-year medical students work in support roles as nurses.
Most of the services provided by a traditional primary care clinic can be provided at the Coyote Clinic, which is open one night each month in downtown Sioux Falls. Care is provided for whomever comes through the door with most patients being underinsured or uninsured.
Students have applied for and received grants as well as contributions from area health systems to make the clinic a reality.
