An obstetrician is a physician with specialized training to help manage pregnancy, labor and the immediate aftermath of childbirth. A gynecologist is a physician with specialized training in the health of the female reproductive system. An obstetrician/gynecologist is a specialist whose expertise includes medical and surgical care of women, pregnancy, childbirth and disorders of the reproductive system.
