Thousands of people seek psychiatric services in Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Yankton each year. This high level of patients provides a variety of cases to help provide an extraordinary education to our medical students, residents and fellows.
Commitment to Teaching
We are doctors but we highly value teaching. We provide opportunities for medical students and resident physicians to participate in patient care, enabling them to be better prepared for their future as physicians. Supervised resident physician or student care is strictly voluntary.
Serving The Underserved
To help provide care to underserved residents of the state, one of our faculty members spends one afternoon each week seeing patients at the Avera Health Care Clinic. Mathew Malone, D.O., in his role at the clinic, supervises medical school residents in providing psychiatric care.
