Child & Adolescent Application Requirements

All applications to the Psychiatry Residency will be accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Application requirements
  • Short biographical sketch of less than 500 words
  • Letter of recommendation from the dean of your medical school
  • Letters of recommendation from two physicians, both of whom were either your teachers/attendings or an advisor, dated within the last year
  • Official transcipts from all medical schools and other programs attended
  • Personal interview (please bring a small photo)
  • Complete an application form
  • Candidates interview with 4 of 5 faculty members and the program director
  • Interviews typically last an entire morning
  • Interviews take place at Avera Behavioral Health Center and the VA Medical Center
  • Lunch with two current residents will be provided
