Welcome to Graduate Medical Education at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. Orientation marks your entrance to the residency and fellowship programs at SSOM. The GME office is here to make this transition as easy as possible. Please feel free to contact us before or during orientation with any questions. Incoming residents and fellows will work with their programs to complete the necessary paperwork prior to orientation week.
Please bring the following items with you on Monday, June 24:

Acceptable documents which establish eligibility and identity (list of documents available on I-9 form). You will be completing an I-9 the first day of orientation.

Orientation Schedule
Orientation begins 7:45 a.m. on Monday, June 24 for all residents and fellows. Below is an initial schedule subject to change. Your program may have additional orientation dates and times for you to attend.
Monday, June 24
7:45 a.m. - Registration and Breakfast
8-11 a.m. - GME
11 a.m.-Noon - Payroll and Benefits Review
Noon-1:15 p.m. - Lunch with Chief Residents
1:30-4:30 p.m. - Sanford USD Medical Center Orientation
Tuesday, June 25
8-11:45 a.m. - VA Medical Center Orientation (includes breakfast)
12:15-1:15 p.m. - Noon Conference and Lunch
1:30-2:15 p.m. - Pharmacy
2:30-4:30 p.m. - GME
5:30-7:30 p.m. - Welcome Picnic for Residents/Fellows and Families
Wednesday, June 26
7:15 a.m.-Noon - Avera McKennan Orientation (includes breakfast and lunch)
1:15-5 p.m. - Individual Program Orientation
Thursday, June 27
8 a.m.-4 p.m. - Individual Program Orientation
Friday, June 28
8 a.m.-5 p.m. - ACLS Training
