Pediatric Research
Residents are exposed to research opportunities, both basic and translational in nature, at the Sanford Children's Health Research Center in Sioux Falls and at the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute in La Jolla, California.
The Sanford Children's Health Research Center actively uses interdisciplinary approaches to understand the underlying basis of a wide array of congenital defects and childhood diseases, including:
- Neurodegenerative disorders
- Pediatric brain cancers
- Cystic kidney disease
- Primary ciliary dyskinesia
The center also includes expertise in a wide range of disciplines, including molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, biochemistry and genetics.
