VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota ESL Summer Institute is scheduled to begin Monday, July 7 and continue through Sunday, Aug. 3 on the campus of The U.
Sponsored by the ESL Program of the USD Department of English, the ESL Summer Institute draws students from around the world annually for an intensive four-week program designed to improve English communication skills. The 2008 ESL Summer Institute is designed for international students and non-native English-speakers who want to strengthen their English language reading, writing, listening and speaking skills to achieve higher performance for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exams, university studies, career advancement or personal growth. Classes are small, supportive and held Monday through Friday under the guidance of a professional staff.
The ESL Summer Institute includes helpful one-on-one tutoring and assists university-bound students in all aspects of preparation for the TOEFL exam. This summertime institute offers opportunities for participants to explore the diverse culture and countryside of the Midwest. The ESL Summer Institute is open to adults over 18 years-old, with possible exceptions for high school students with legal guardians. The ESL Summer Institute also provides English study opportunities for groups of students 17 years of age and under.
