VERMILLION, S.D. -- A panel of experts from The University of South Dakota hope to answer the question, “Is the War Being Lost in Afghanistan/Pakistan?” during an international forum scheduled for noon on Monday, Feb. 25 at Farber Hall on the USD campus.
Benno Wymar, professor emeritus of economics, will moderate a USD panel of Abhinav Aima, an assistant professor in the contemporary media & journalism department, Eric Jepsen, an assistant professor of political science, and Damian Donahoe, military science, as they discuss the feud between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
According to Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del), United States Foreign Relations Committee chairman, “the Taliban in Afghanistan control more of the country than at any time since 2001, and their confederates in the tribal areas of Pakistan are expanding their operations almost on a daily basis.” There’s also concerns about the stability of Pakistan should President Pervez Musharraf be forced to retire. Monday’s panel hopes to address these and other issues during the forum, which is free and open to the public.
