VERMILLION, S.D. -- The Department of Theatre at The University of South Dakota will host auditions for the 2009 summer season of The Black Hills Playhouse and for the touring production of the Children’s Theatre Company of South Dakota on Monday, Feb. 16.
Ten minute interviews for technical theatre positions with the Black Hills Playhouse will be from 1 - 3 p.m. while the five minute auditions are from 3:15 - 5 p.m., all in room 180 of the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts on the USD campus.
Technicians interviewing should bring a résumé and portfolio that exhibits artistic or craft processes. Actors will present one, 60-second monologue from a contemporary play and 16 bars from an up-tempo Broadway-style musical. Actors should bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. The Black Hills Playhouse season includes Neil Simon's "Brighton Beach Memoirs" (June 11-21); "The Sugar Bean Sisters" by Nathan Sanders and starring Marcia Wallace from "The Bob Newhart Show" (June 25 - July 5); "Suds," a musical by Melinda Gilb, Steve Gunderson and Bryan Scott(July 9-19); "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown" by Charles Schultz and Clark Gesner (July 23 – Aug. 2); and a new musical by David Hasselfield, "Sweet Metigoshe" (Aug. 6-16).
