VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota announced that Brooke Roberts has been named Coordinator for Global Learning at The U’s Center for Academic Engagement (CAE).
Roberts, who received her M.A. in higher education and student affairs from Bowling Green State University, will assist with the implementation of USD’s strategic plan goal to increase the number of students studying abroad and promote academic enrichment opportunities through the CAE. She recently returned from an Institute for Shipboard Education’s Semester at Sea through the University of Virginia where she served as Living Learning Coordinator and Students of Service Advisor. Roberts has also developed internship programs for several institutions through EUSA—Academic Internship Programs Abroad, and was a study abroad consultant for academic departments of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Bowling Green State.
"Studying abroad was the defining experience of my undergraduate and graduate experiences. I couldn’t imagine my life without international study and cultural exchange," Roberts admitted. "I'm excited to be at USD and eager to help more students take advantage of these transformative experiences."
In addition to her study abroad experience, Roberts spent a term as an English language instructor in China and as an intern in the British Parliament. A photo of Roberts is available for download at www.usd.edu/urelations/images/Brooke_Roberts.jpg.
