Laurie Becvar named dean of Graduate School at USD

VERMILLION, S.D. -- Laurie Becvar, Ed.D, has been named dean of the Graduate School of The University of South Dakota. USD’s Office of Academic Affairs announced that Becvar, who is currently dean of the Division of Continuing and Distance Education, will be dean of the Graduate School and Division of Continuing and Distance Education effective Feb. 1.

Becvar has more than two decades of experience in higher education. She joined The University of South Dakota as dean of the Division of Continuing and Distance Education in 2004. Prior to working at The U, Becvar served as the Chief Academic Officer at Presentation College, Aberdeen, S.D. She was also the dean of Academic Affairs and Graduate Programs at Mount Marty College, Yankton, S.D.

Becvar received a doctorate and a master’s degree in educational administration from USD and earned a bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University, Wichita, Kan.
