VERMILLION, S.D. -- Five physicians with ties to the Sanford School of Medicine of The University of South Dakota have been elected as the officers of the South Dakota State Medical Association.
Thomas J. Huber, M.D., of Pierre, was elected the 128th president of the association. He graduated from the medical school in 1977. Huber is a clinical professor of family medicine.
Karla K. Murphy, M.D., of Sioux Falls, is the new president-elect. She is a clinical assistant professor of pathology.
Gary L. Timmerman, M.D., of Sioux Falls, was elected secretary. He graduated from the medical school in 1984. Timmerman is a clinical associate professor of surgery.
Dan Heinemann, M.D., of Sioux Falls, is treasurer. He is a 1977 medical school graduate. Heinemann is a clinical associate professor of family medicine.
More than 600 physicians in the state are graduates from the Sanford School of Medicine.
