Associate Dean Norman Neu to retire from School of Medicine

VERMILLION, S.D. -- After three decades of service to the Sanford School of Medicine of The University of South Dakota, Norman Neu, M.D., is retiring as associate dean, Rapid City, and assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, effective spring 2011.

A Redfield, South Dakota, native, Dr. Neu received his B.S. in medicine from South Dakota’s medical school in 1968. His medical degree was completed at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School. After an OB internship at the University of Arkansas Medical Center, Dr. Neu completed his OB/GYN residency training at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He began his practice in Rapid City in 1975.

Dr. Neu’s dedication played a vital role in the development of the Rapid City campus as well as the OB/GYN department. He has received numerous awards, including the medical school’s Anton Hyden Distinguished Professor Award, the APGO Excellence in Teaching Award, the Dale Carnegie Highest Award from Achievement and election as a faculty member to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
