VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota has announced the newest members of the 2010 Dakota Days Committee.
Kelsey Schroeder of Woonsocket, S.D., will serve as chairperson of the committee while Anna Knotek of Omaha, Neb., is chair of Campus Entries. Additional committee chairpersons include Brenan Tjelmeland of Fort Calhoun, Neb., Community Entries; Ali Ortiz of Storm Lake, Iowa, Dignitaries; Alissa VanMeeteren of Yankton, S.D., Marching Bands; James W. Payer II of Wagner, S.D., Coronation; Gabby Shinagle of Aurora, Colo., Awards Ceremonies; Samantha Berres of St. Paul, Minn., Special Daily Events; Jesse Mohling of Watertown, S.D., Special Music Events; and Courtney Becker of Omaha, Neb., and Jerrett Kucera of Winner, S.D., Publicity and Promotions. Laura Cuda of Schuyler, Neb., will serve as business manager for the committee and Andrew Davis, coordinator of Greek Affairs at USD, is staff advisor for the committee. Graduate assistants are Rachel Svartoien, Justina Fieldsend and Beth Overmoe.
Dakota Days, USD’s Homecoming celebration, begins on Monday, Sept. 27. Coronation is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. and the annual Dakota Days Parade on Main Street is set for Saturday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. Also during week, the Freedom Forum will host the annual Al Neuharth Award for Excellence in Media, and 2010 homecoming activities will come to a close when the Coyote football team plays North Dakota at 2 p.m. in the DakotaDome.
