‘Photovoice’ exhibit on display at USD W.H. Over Museum

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The W. H. Over Museum on the campus of The University of South Dakota is hosting an exhibition of American Indian youth photography in October.

The exhibit, “Photovoice,” begins this Friday and is open during museum hours through Sunday, Oct. 31. “Photovoice” is a showcase of the photography and narratives of American Indian USD students. Sponsored by Sanford Health and the South Dakota Humanities Council, this project raises awareness and provides a forum for American Indian youth, and encourages these students to voice their strengths, challenges and perspectives through photographs.

Persons interested in viewing the photos and reading the narratives are encouraged to attend a reception for “Photovoice” at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1 at the W. H.
