Successful authors entrepreneurs to meet with students, speak at USD

VERMILLION, S.D. -- A pair of internationally-renowned business leaders will be featured guests of the Beacom School of Business at The University of South Dakota.

Entrepreneur Jeff Knott will speak at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28 at the Beacom Hall Auditorium, while James W. Anderson, son of America’s Rib King, “Famous Dave” Anderson, is scheduled to address the campus community at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4 at the Beacom Hall Auditorium. Both programs, sponsored by the Beacom Opportunity Fund, which provides resources for initiatives that promote the Beacom School of Business’s students and programs, are open to the public. Additionally, Knott and Anderson will visit with Entrepreneurship I students, and meet with USD’s Entrepreneurship Club while at USD.

Knott, a well-known national entrepreneur, is a frequent guest on national and international syndicated radio and television programs as well as author of the best-selling book, “Navigating the Healthcare Maze.” Born in England, Knott spent 20 years with Johnson and Johnson; was president of the Jim Walter International Corporation, where he successfully managed the building materials company outside of the United States; and served as vice president at International of Rooms To Go Corporation, a leading U.S. furniture retailer. In addition to serving on a number of boards, including the University of Tampa’s Board of Trustees and Lowry Park Zoo, Knott was selected to be a member of the Initiative for Global Development (IGD) – a national alliance of business leaders that champions effective solutions to global poverty.

Anderson, meanwhile, got started in his father’s highly successful restaurant empire Famous Dave’s of America. Today, James is the co-creator and founder of the LifeSkills Center for Leadership, one of the nation’s top personal development training companies. During his nine-year speaking and training career, Anderson has trained thousands of individuals in North America, including many top-level executives of Hilton Hotels, Baker Tilly Financial Services, Health Care Express and Famous Dave’s of America. The author of “Yesterday’s Wisdom, Today’s Success,” Anderson has authored another soon-to-be-released book, “Great Results Begin With Great Thoughts!”
