Creative Writers' Groups

Creative writers have two wonderful opportunities to share their work with other writers. See below.

  • ATTENTION, FRESHMEN & SOPHOMORES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH DAKOTA: Each Wednesday, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., the Writing Center and the Vermillion Literary Project are offering an undergraduate creative writers' group for freshmen and sophomores at the U. This will be a regular group roundtable-type workshopping opportunity, led by Dan Kofoed, in which student writers can meet in the Writing Center to discuss their work. Writers should sign up by calling 677-5626 or emailing Dan at dkofoed(at)usd.edu. On Wednesday, they will meet in the Writing Center to read and workshop their poems, plays, short fiction, or parts of longer works.
  • The VLP Community Writers' Group, in collaboration with the Vermillion Area Arts Council, is holding meetings for creative writers at the Washington Street Arts Center in Vermillion. Everyone is welcome, including the general public and students at the U. (Juniors, seniors, and graduate students may be especially interested in this group.) Writers are invited to share their creative writing--poems, plays, short fiction, or other types of creative works--and give each other feedback. These meetings, run by TBA, will be held at TBA on the TBA of each month, at the Washington Street Arts Center, 202 Washington Street, Vermillion. For more information, e-mail mremund(at)usd.edu.
