Presidential nominee to address USD Constitution Day audience |

| VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota School of Law invites the community to observe Constitution Day on Thursday, Sept. 17 by attending a keynote address at noon by Brendan Johnson at the Al Neuharth Media Center. |

Johnson, an attorney from Sioux Falls, S.D., has been nominated by President Barack Obama to be South Dakota's next U.S. Attorney. He is scheduled to discuss the responsibilities of a U.S. Attorney as they relate to the Constitution. Johnson, 34, is a partner at Johnson, Heidepriem, Abdallah and Johnson, LLP, a law firm he joined in 2005. Prior to that, Johnson was a state prosecutor in the Minnehaha County State’s Attorney Office, where he tried a wide range of criminal felonies and misdemeanors. Following graduation from law school, Johnson clerked for Judge Karen Schreier on the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota. A 1998 graduate of The University of South Dakota (with a B.S. degree in history and political science); he graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2001.
Constitution Day was established by Congress in 2004 to recognize the ratification of the United States Constitution. All colleges and universities that receive federal funding are required to host an educational event about the Constitution.
