Study Abroad and Engagement Fair is Oct. 29 at USD |
| VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota will host a Study Abroad and Engagement Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, in the main level of the Muenster University Center. |
| Dozens of exhibitors will have table displays complete with brochures, catalogues and other information to assist students during the fair, which is a comprehensive exhibition of study abroad programs available to USD students. Those who attend will have an opportunity to visit with representatives from USD exchange/partnership programs, learn more about upcoming faculty-directed study tours, collect program information from several affiliate program providers, and hear stories from Global Learning alumni.
In addition to featuring off-campus study programs, the fair will showcase on- and off-campus service-learning, undergraduate research and volunteer programs. Global Learning staff will provide information on financial aid, travel arrangements, health insurance, foreign entry visa requirements and cultural activities. Through institutional exchanges, partnerships, and affiliates, USD provides study abroad opportunities in more than 30 countries, on six continents and through more than 250 programs. According to Brooke Roberts, coordinator for Global Learning at The U, approximately 100 USD students participated in domestic and international study away programs last year. “As part of the University’s strategic plan, we hope to dramatically increase the number of students who participate in Global Learning programs in the U.S. and abroad,” said Roberts. “Offering a Study Abroad Fair is one of many steps we are taking to promote international education to students.” The Study Abroad and Engagement Fair is sponsored by Global Learning, part of the Center for Academic Engagement (CAE). The CAE is the central point of contact for students interested in experiential learning activities, including service-learning, undergraduate research, study abroad, and other off-campus learning experiences. Students unable to attend the fair can learn more by attending a Global Learning 101 information session. Offered most Mondays and Thursdays at 4 p.m. in the Muenster University Center, the next session is Nov. 2 in MUC 211. |
