CDC at The U hosts federal government employment seminar

VERMILLION, S.D. -- Students interested in pursuing a career in public service can learn more about federal government employment at The University of South Dakota’s Career Development Center program, “How to Find Employment with the Federal Government,” at noon on Monday, Nov. 2 at the Muenster University Center, room 211.

According to the Partnership for Public Service, only 3 percent of the federal workforce is under the age of 25. The shortage of talented young workers is critical to the government’s effectiveness. The federal government is utilizing open campus forums as a recruiting opportunity to educate students about federal careers.

Chad Jeremy, an assistant director for Training with AmeriCorps and a representative with the Partnership for Public Service, will present the program and address any questions or issues regarding federal government employment. Jeremy, a graduate of Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science, joined the Corporation for National and Community Service in 2006 as a Member Support Specialist handling administrative and personnel matters for AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps NCCC members. In October 2007 he was promoted to the assistant program director of training. In this position Jeremy designs, implements and manages the training curriculum for 320 NCCC members.
