USD med school professors, grads are state association officers

VERMILLION, S.D. -- Five physicians with ties to the Sanford School of Medicine of The University of South Dakota have been elected as the officers of the South Dakota State Medical Association.
 
  • Thomas J. Huber, M.D., of Pierre, was elected the 128th president of the association. He graduated from the medical school in 1977. Huber is a clinical professor of family medicine.
  • Karla K. Murphy, M.D., of Sioux Falls, is the new president-elect. She is a clinical assistant professor of pathology.
  • Gary L. Timmerman, M.D., of Sioux Falls, was elected secretary. He graduated from the medical school in 1984. Timmerman is a clinical associate professor of surgery.
  • Dan Heinemann, M.D., of Sioux Falls, is treasurer. He is a 1977 medical school graduate. Heinemann is a clinical associate professor of family medicine.
More than 600 physicians in the state are graduates from the Sanford School of Medicine.
