USD Theatre to showcase student-directed one-acts |

| VERMILLION, S.D. -- Student work will be showcased as The University of South Dakota’s Department of Theatre presents a workshop production of seven, student-directed one-act plays, Nov. 13-15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Arena Theatre of the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts. |

| The evening of performances begin with “Words, Words, Words,” an absurdist comedy from David Ives. Directed by Benjamin Kramer from Sioux Falls, S.D., “Words, Words, Words” features three monkeys (Kafka, Swift and Milton) who are confined and left to themselves with typewriters as an experiment to see if they will eventually author a Shakespearean play. Avalon Kann of McGregor, Iowa, directs “Cecily,” Gillian Plowman’s poignant drama about a family struggling to care for a child left brain-damaged from a motorcycle accident followed by “The Adventures of Captain Neato-Man,” directed by Tommy Wedge of Wessington, S.D. This farce by Timothy Scott Harris follows a not-so-super superhero as he persuades an unsuspecting jobseeker to be his sidekick. Krysta Dziak of Helena, Mont., stages Cherie Volgelstein’s comedy“Cats and Dogs,” a story about a blind date that goes horribly and hilariously awry while Aaron Kuchta of Hartington, Neb., helms “Bachelor’s Holiday,” an Alan Ball comedy that features three unlikely roommates who are trying to live and let live in a small New York apartment. Ivory Stahly of Sioux Falls, S.D., concludes the evening by staging two short selections from Shel Silverstein’s “An Adult Evening with Shel Silverstein,” each providing a humorous and unorthodox portrait of life and the way we live it.
