‘Enclosed & Exposed’ student exhibit to be on display at The U |
| VERMILLION, S.D. -- Three students from The University of South Dakota will present their Bachelor of Fine Arts graduation exhibition, “Enclosed & Exposed,” Monday, Nov. 30 through Friday, Dec. 4 at the John A. Day Gallery in the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts. |
| “Enclosed & Exposed” features works by Madison Zimmermann, Katherine Case and Susanne Green. Their unique collaboration of graphic design, printmaking and painting will be the featured display at the John A. Day Gallery with a reception for the artists scheduled for Dec. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Zimmermann of Rapid City, S.D., specialized in the area of graphic design during her studies as a fine arts major. Inspired by the skateboarding culture, her work composed of hand drawn illustrations provides the graphics for a line of skateboard apparel and equipment. Zimmerman’s post graduation plans are still undecided. Case from Sioux City, Iowa, specialized in the area of printmaking as a fine arts major. Using a variety of printmaking methods, Case chose to focus her recent work on the art of mezzotint. Much of her work stems from her upbringing in theatre and the division between reality and illusion. Following graduation, Case plans to move to Boston, Mass. Green from Gauting, Germany, specialized in the area of painting as an art education major. Her work reflects on the functions and characteristics of shells, membranes and clusters. Her use of vibrant colors creates a mood of a new environment for the depicted animalcules and other microorganisms.
