USD fraternity raises $3,000 for Cure Kids Cancer

VERMILLION, S.D. -- The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Kappa Pi Chapter at the University of South Dakota, raised more than $3,000 from its annual sketch comedy philanthropy event, “Thursday Night Live,” on Nov. 17.

In its 15th year, “Thursday Night Live” was a success in more ways than one. In addition to selling more than 200 tickets, “Thursday Night Live” raised more than $3,000, bettering last year’s $2,000 total. All proceeds from “Thursday Night Live” are donated to Cure Kids Cancer, an organization dedicated to finding life-saving treatments for children’s cancer.

“This philanthropy event is a cause very important to our brothers,” explained Brenan Tjelmeland, philanthropy chair. “Cure Kids Cancer locally supports the Sanford Children’s Hospital and works with television and radio stations, and corporate partners to raise funds and public awareness to help keep kids with cancer as close to home as possible.”
