CMJ student is official delegate to PRSSA National Assembly

VERMILLION, S.D. -- Brittany LaCroix, a Contemporary Media & Journalism student at the University of South Dakota, is an official delegate for the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) 2012 National Assembly at Charlotte, N.C. this weekend.

“It has been several years since USD sent an official delegate to National Assembly; so this is very exciting for our chapter,” noted Kara Robinson, instructor in the department of Contemporary Media & Journalism at USD and faculty adviser to PRSSA. “The National Assembly is a time for PRSSA to come together and make important decisions regarding the future of the organization, specifically electing the new National Committee.”

LaCroix, a sophomore advertising and public relations major from Yankton, S.D., is representing USD during the three-day assembly, which began today and is comprised of chapter members from throughout the United States who vote on bylaw changes and are tasked with the election of the next National Committee. Attendees, including LaCroix, also have an opportunity to participate in leadership training sessions, Assembly meetings and socials.

The USD chapter of PRSSA is one of more than 300 international chapters. PRSSA offers students an opportunity to explore career options in public relations, network with professionals, and develop a sense of professionalism and ethics. Students also participate in field trips and meet with company or ad agency representatives to learn first-hand about the inner workings of the profession.
